About Us
We’re Heroes Read, a collection of nerds, educators, parents and creatives that use pop culture to spark a love of reading in kids who haven’t found it yet.
Founded in 2024 by a lifelong comic reader, we partner with schools, libraries, and community organizations to put high interest books into kids’ hands and build the programs, partnerships, and showcases that turn those books into a reading culture.
We work in the communities that need this most, and build each program to fit the needs of its audience.

Access
Graphic novels are the most in-demand books and the hardest to find in school libraries. They make up less than 10% of the average school library collection, yet they drive up to a third of everything kids check out. We seek to close that gap.
Integration
Nearly 9 in 10 children say the books they actually finish are the ones they chose themselves—and comics, graphic novels, and manga are what they choose. We take that spark and build it into reading programs that turn kids who can read into kids who do.
Mentoring
Mentoring works best when the mentor shares a kid’s passions. Interest-matched mentoring roughly doubles its impact. Our Heroes are engaged readers and fans who model reading as something joyful and worth doing.
